A Mendelssohn Evening with Amir Katz in the Gasteig

[…] the pianist Amir Katz smiled during his Mendelssohn marathon in the Carl-Orff-Hall in the Gasteig. […] the 48 Songs without Words in particular smiled through him. Amir Katz played his ambitious program without compromise. For him Mendelssohn is great music without need of partisanship. Katz only seldom afforded himself romanticizing detours […] The sound, however, that he developed, the shadings he found, came off admirably secure and natural. A complete success then, the evening, excitement spread over the course of more than two hours. […]
